Thanks for the response. I think I'm beginning to see, the race just isn't as important here as I thought. With the prime and white's partly collapsed board, blue can easily still win even if hit. So giving up the prime and a board point just isn't worth it for the immediate safely. I was thinking pay now or pay later, but getting hit isn't really "paying" here unless further bad luck follows. 13/5 seems clear to me now, hopefully for reasons that will work in similar positions.
