Rule 6.05h in the MLB rule book states that anyone hitting a ball for the second time in fair territory is out and the ball is dead meaning ...
Of course here it happened so fast and in such an unusual manner that the umpire likely was unaware, or at least uncertain, of the occurrence. This is not a video reviewable situation -- on home runs are video reviewable in MLB.
More common occurrences of this type would be with a bunt down into the ground immediately in front of the plate coming back up and hitting the nearly stationary bat. Also, with a full swing, a ball hit down into the ground and bouncing straight back up may be rarely hit again on the follow through of the bat.
