In Response To: More bearoff mistakes (Klaus Evers)

Well, I can imagine that the top-experts make the best play in a sec. Intermediates will have to think twice.

My point in this bearoff is, that of course gammons count. But how much? And, that, of course, minimizng shots will win for sure more single wins. But, whenever I take the last reasoning for granted, I am quite puzzled a few times when taking an extra checker off will win more games for you.

Usually, your checkerplay errors in bearoff cost you not much equity. But these situation occur so often, that it is worth studying these routine plays very well. At the end of the day they will add up quite a lot. (And I can tell you: my checker mistakes add up quite a LOT ;-) )

You can still win the game after getting hit, but from the RO it is clear that your gammons won go way down (in both positions)!
