Volunteers help grow the game

Although I am agnostic (and liberal) now, my upbringing introduces a personal bias. I am all for the mathematical properties, and the statistics, and the fun. Backgammon is all that. What I am saying is that unlike others I am not dismissing the view of the people who may fall more to the right on the political spectrum.
What I am saying is that eventually there will be parents who are strong in their convictions over the potential "gambling" aspect that COULD make it difficult. And likely, these are not parents who have students participating! I can understand where they are coming from. It's not the parents and children I have participating that I'd be concerned about. It's the parents and kids who are NOT participating that may need convincing in the future.
If I had younger kids, I would have no problem teaching them backgammon at home. I have more control of how the game is being represented to my own children. I am also not forcing my viewpoint on a more public institution where I know that there are parents who will not agree.
Right now, Backgammon has one thing going for it. It is not high profile like Poker. My opinion is that the more successful you become the more eyebrows that will be raised.
