Volunteers help grow the game

Someone emailed me about a post Phil made a couple months ago. I never saw this particular one until I was directed to search for it today:
Phile Wrote: "I know that I have been guilty of negative comments about people here in the past....of course I believe it was justified and often in defense of unwarranted attacks on me, but I suppose that most people can offer this same excuse. Your post has truly "inspired me" and I hereby pledge that I will never again say anything negative or about any individual on this forum. Even in defense, and even if I believe it is warranted. "
My question is this. Does Mr. Simborg believe that this post, and the fashion he made it in was in the spirit of fostering a working relationship with others to further backgammon? I believe that his post was inflammatory at best. My question is, who was making unwarranted attacks on you since you posted this? I know I haven't had a beef with you since you posted this, despite the times I would have liked to say something. But I believe Mr. Simborg would be well advised to choose his words carefully in the future, and follow what he said he would do in the paragraph above.
If Phil had been truly looking for volunteers to help, I think that he would have had a better reception had he not said this "Also, those who say the gambling aspects of backgammon will keep up out of the schools are being proven wrong...it's NOT AN ISSUE". Seriously, it is not an issue YET.
If Mr. Simborg would leave his attitude at the door, I think that he would be a much better representative of the game.
