In Response To: Explaining Ray's Incredible Success (Bob Koca)

My point is the pettiness demonstrated by too many over Ray's accomplishments. Some 'superior', 'elite' players (by their own estimation)seemingly just cannot accept the fact that a 'technically inferior' player, by their judgement, is enjoying so much success.

I wouldn't have taken 50-1 that anyone would have scored 82 points by this point of the year. However, I would have thought Ray as likely as any; and not just because he plays more tournaments.

I'm confident you wouldn't have given as high odds on Neil, Stick, Richard, Kit, Sax, O'Hagan or yourself, among others, assuming they would all be playing a like number of tournaments.

Certainly, every Giant of Backgammon, and others, think they're better than the next guy; however, a bit of humility and appreciation goes a long way. Neil was very admirable in his congratulations and acknowledgement at the beginning of this thread. It's a shame others don't follow his lead.
