I have tried ;-). I even attempted it with CodeWeavers Wine for gaming product offering. The 3D won't work period, and I had issues with it trying to register (Should I admit that to Xavier?). There seem to be some antihacking tricks that are making it more difficult to run under Wine.

Had it worked you would have lost something in the emulation layer BUT that is only to do Windows specific things (Screen drawing, graphics, sound etc). You probably would have got "reasonable" performance from it had it worked.
