To add to David's response to Neil's response. Making the 2 point is very important simply because it is a homeboard gap and will be a big liability in the bearoff if not filled, and that is far more important than any minor advantage to be gained by making the bar point that we hope to be clearing soon thereafter.

Having the bar point here would not be a liability here, in spite of the need to clear it. Against the 15 backgame, clearing the bar should not be incrementally that much more difficult as compared to the existing job of having to clear the 8 point. The bar point has value because it will be necessary to clear the midpoint. If in the process of coming home and the outfield checker gets hit, then the bar and the prime against the ace point will have value.
