The 6% you refer to is 0.060 difference in slugging percentage which means that Ruth's slugging percentage is about 9% higher than Williams'. Look at that stats. You've got all the greats clustered relatively closely together below Williams, perhaps 0.010 apart and then this monstrous leap up to Ruth. That says something.
Ted Williams hit the furthest home run ever hit at Fenway Park. The spot marked by the infamous "red seat" in right field. It is 502 feet from home plate. In 1921 alone, Babe Ruth hit at least one 500+ foot home run in each of 8 different ballparks. Ruth holds the record for the longest home run ever hit in an MLB game at 575 feet (1921). Bottom line, Ruth hit the ball harder than anyone in the history of baseball and that is the major reason why he hit so many more home runs.
