Solving backgammon sequences

Nack didn't say that doing this was an efficient use of one's practice time, only that he has learned from it.
I wouldn't claim this is an efficient use of one's time but there are clearly benefits and things to be learned from being able to do it. I try to visualize the sequence, how the position unfolded to get to the position making the correct plays. Sometimes I do have to check a bot to make sure my plays are right and this definitely helps. I'm sure Nack has to check plays too. I don't think anyone has even the first 3 rolls of the game memorized.
