This is interesting. Does the analysis count the years Ruth spent playing at the Polo Grounds as a "home" or "away" park?

I don't know how you quantify the impact of integration, but it has to be large. Williams played contemporaneously with Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Henry Aaron, Jack Roosevelt Robinson, Juan Marichal, Bob Gibson, Frank Robinson, Roy Campanella, Ernie Banks, etc. Obviously every great black player that earned a job in the early years of integration displaced a mediocre white guy. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the talent pool in the 1920s and 1930s was half of what it could have been had every good ballplayer been allowed to ply his trade in MLB.
