I don't understand this position

I would probably make the 4 and 2 OTB to make my hits more powerful and to make white tighten up. My guess would be that played 8/4(3) 10/6, which only leaves on blot, good while ahead in the race, with a compact position. I think the problem with the 8/4(3) 10/6 play is twofold (repeating some of the points mentioned above:

1. It is difficult to improve on further other than by jokering to make a point or escape your back checker;

2. Blue's hits are not decisive. White does not need to tighten up, and is thus likely to be able to improve her prime and contain Blue.
