No, Saudi's record was not "surprising" because of mind tricks or expectations, but merely because it was a random odd blip on the curve. It's an indication (as you also observed) that W-L records in kick-offs (by definition between teams evenly matched or, at least, between teams that were tied in regulation) tend to be not much different than a coin flip -- tending to be even, with variance. I wasn't suggesting that England, say, with its 1-5 record, hire the Saudi team for training in taking penalty kicks. (Wikipedia has different stats, your source's are probably better.)
