placement of a builder

I'm sure Magriel's safe-vs-bold criteria get overused (by me, anyway, which is why I can be so sure). But here you can get some insight by applying it: White has a stronger homeboard and only White has an anchor.
What can happen here (and in my view it tends to happen more often than I would expect) is that if you spread out builders, only one slip in fending off opp's attack (e.g. opp hits loose in his board and you stay treed) can put you in serious danger because of the vulnerable outfield blots. Often best to concentrate on one thing at a time, unless of course the dice give you better opportunities. I.e. you can still build points on your side (safely) from spares on held points while looking for a chance to run out of opp's homeboard.
