It is probably a good idea when playing at events with registered dice to write down the serial numbers of the dice selected on the scoresheet. If dice are suspected to be substituted, it then becomes easier to prove that they are or are not the original dice.

It is sickening that this is something we need to worry about.

Perhaps there needs to be a public "banned" list used world-wide at all events and for which there is a fairly large committee of directors and players that agree on who goes on and who comes off the list. If all directors state on their tournament brochures that anyone on this list is inelligible to play, then it takes the decision out of their hands (beyond their personal control). Something like this is needed so that no one person or small set of people can be intimidated, and that banning is done by "the world of organized backgammon" rather than by an individual.
