What say you who play online for money about ratings?

Do you care about the opinions of someone who doesn't play for money online? If 'yes', what if that person is I? :)

Ratings are a nice way of keeping score when there's no better way to keep score. Money is a better score keeper. Trying to prevent ratings manipulation is (IMO) an almost impossible task, so why put energy into it?

Who does a rating system benefit more: the sharks or the fish?
