Let's look at some candidates:

9/3*, 4/3. Not appetizing at this score.

9/3*/2. Six return shots at our straggler.

16/10, 9/8. Four return shots for Stick. If the 10-point is going to be trouble to clear (assuming we play 16/9), I doubt it's four immediate shots worth of trouble.

16/9. Nice block and 18 PoH rolls next turn unless Stick escapes. Non-PoH rolls for us leave zero shots. (We have options besides leaving zero shots, like P&P plays.)

Not sure what the Risk-vs-Reward is for the gammonish plays, but those sure don't look worth it to me.
