Thats because he's like 10 years old or something. I offered him a playdate with my 9month old daughter. He just laughed. As if I was joking.

I second this idea.
If you want backgammon to have a young following, get it in schools with no money on the game. That's how chess gets so big, despite the fact that most people have no financial future in the game (even some GMs I've met have a hard time paying their bills). I made more money in my first 6 months of playing backgammon than I did in 5 years playing chess. Alternatively, you could do it the poker way, and make the game such that people who are my age have a more lucrative career in online poker than they do in graduate business programs. Unfortunately, Congress doesn't think too highly of that one. Television would help.
