I felt like a kid when I first got into tournament BG. I guess I'm still among the younger players.

I think the trick has to be tapping into the thousands of people playing online backgammon at yahoo, msn, and the like, and finding a way to bring them out to local clubs and tournaments. I seem to remember a certain tournament pro deploying this marketing strategy, although he did it one female at a time...

Introducing BG to the schools is a nonstarter, IMO, although there's certainly a lot to learn in terms of math and probabilities. Unlike chess, it's just too much of a gambling game.
