According to the Wiki article, the common understanding of the term 'blue moon' is the second full moon in a calendar year. Volcanic dust and ash cause the moon to actually appear blue. So I suppose I'm on Chuck's side, linguistically speaking, with the caveat that Stick is probably right in the literal, metaphysical sense. Blue Moon can also be used as the term for a fine beverage.
