Is Go more complex than chess ? Probably but certainly not by a factor of 40 to 14 on this scale.

I basically have given up chess due to too much opening theory since I no longer find it fun to study.

Chess needs to be changed to Fischer Random Chess where the positioning of the back pieces is determined randomly. Of course, clearly disadvantagous positions need to be discarded from the list of starting candidates.
