Freaky games: any good stories?

We had a rather unusual game in our chouette the other day. The team was playing a deep backgame with seven checkers back. We had hit a couple of checkers and were feeling pretty good about our chances but not yet enough to double. Then we rolled boxcars three times in a row. What I thought was rather unusual was that we were able to use all 72 pips and did not have to bury anything. However, we were forced into a minimal-contact mutual holding game. The box broke contact and won the race fairly comfortably despite our triple boxcars.

I'm sure that people have many stories of incredible comebacks. Other than incredible comebacks, though, do people have any interesting stories of games that took a very strange turn?
