I am really excited to hear about going to 2 out of 3 matches to 5 or 7 instead of those long, boring matches everyone else plays at major tournaments. Not only are the shorter matches more exciting for the players and fans, they required more skill because of the many different strategies required because of the changing take points and gammon values.

Can you imagine a tennis match where the first one to reach 100 points wins? That's what we are doing with long backgammon matches....great to see someone do this in a major event...I hope it becomes the norm. Yes, we can learn a lot from the Brits--the clocks, too, but Zoe's work with video and interviews and posting on U-Tube and pod-casting and Mike Main's work with electronic draw sheets and postings and organization, and finding a great venue. Those Brits are like the Japanese...first they copy our language and then they not only copy everything else, they do it better.....if they could only learn how to spell!
