Please advice on this yearly club competition format

As every September, the Milan club is trying to come up with innovative ideas for the season, both for main and side events.

The proposal this year is to have, aside from the main Monday Championship (30 Direct Elimination format tourneys, ranking based on tourney results), a yearly championship with the following characteristics:

- Min 8, Max 16 players

- Registration fee to be paid upfront

- Round Robin regular season, everybody plays everybody else once

- Playoffs reserved to top 8 finishers at the end of the season

- Playoffs to be played with a best of 2 out of 3 matches format

- In all rounds of the playoffs, the higher ranked player in the regular season starts from 1 match to 0, and he has to win only one match to advance to the next round

- Prizes for the winner of the Regular season and for top 2 (maybe 4) in the playoffs

Do you see any major flaw with this format?
