Extraordinary event?

An American Backgammon Tour Facebook page post caught my eye:

In the Open, Alfred Mamlet is the undefeated player who will face the winner of the Jonah Seewald/Bob Lekse match. Alfred is also in the Masters finals vs. Rich Siebol

It reminded me that something else always catches my attention: every tournament report in the Flint Backgammon newsletter when someone has reached the finals in both the Open and the Masters.

I recall reading several such stories. But how often does that really happen, would you guess?
