Unlimited/$ checkerplay -- insight sought

As typical I got it wrong, but even after reading Phil's comments and doing an independent XG rollout, I still don't understand something. (I hate giving hints and in this case you are likely chasing an artificial lure if you think what I said will help you find the best play.) But please give your OtB thoughts about all candidates you consider for more than a split second.
