Japan holds commanding lead in 1st Internation Backgammon Championships

Nine players remain and Japan is the only country with more than one. Further, they have collected 10 points to nearest competitor's 5. With only 2 points per round per individual available there aren't many chances left to earn points.

The max number of points attainable by teams still (barely) in the hunt are Italy (5 tallied with a possible 8 to earn), Denmark (5 tallied with a possible 6 to earn), Germany, Sweden, UK, and USA (each with 4 compiled and 6 still available -- at best tying Japan). Turkey is still alive but can't earn enough points to reach Japan.
