0.001 dollars has historically been called a 'mil', likely short for millidollar.

Unit preferences don't seem clearcut to me. For example, I find the centimeter to be a more tangible unit than millimeter but the latter seems to be the modern preference (between the two). Likely that is because log(units prefixes) being multiples of 3 are more/less standard, at least in the sciences. Similarly, I still contend the 0.01 emg is more relevant to most players than 0.001. So maybe we can have two practical emg sub-units -- cent and mil?
