Positions and matches from Cleveland

Thanks to Bill Calton I was able to record 11 matches in Cleveland. At the bottom of this page is a link to 8 of them. Remaining 3 are not included since my opponents asked me not to share them. John Smidt is Mister X, my opponent from Ohio Masters final.

Let me share some memorable positions from 3 events I got myself into--Open, Masters and Doubles.

#1. On the previous roll I danced and now our opponents had to decide what to do with the cube. They doubled, and we got closed out. This was their last success in the match. They left a shot in the bear off and lost the match without scoring a single point.

#3. In the next one I mixed my priorities. BGO readers are the smartest bg folks around and I am sure would do better than me.

#4. When David doubled me, my first impression was that this was an easy drop. But then the more I thought about it the more it looked like it may be a take. Finally, I convinced myself that take cannot be wrong by a lot and scooped the cube.

#7. This was a long weekend. Hard for me to stay concentrated. I hope nobody [unless you are playing me] ever will repeat my mistake. I thought my back checker was blocked. This was not the only time I made this type of error.

#8. From my final of Masters. I knew I was playing much weaker opponent. I made a bunch of plays I would not normally do. Not at all sure how much of that was justified, but in the next position I thought I was making clearly the best play. I guess I was wrong.
