Gus Hansen Story

After things wound down at the Florida tournament Saturday night, Chiva, Carter, Mike Corbett, Danielle and I went to the Isle Casino to play some poker. Carter, Chiva and I ended up at the same table, playing $1/$2 no limit, and we are, of course, joking around and having some fun. Carter said something about Gus Hansen, and the dealer asked if we knew him, and Carter said yes, he's a good friend of his.

And the dealer said he hates him...that he has dealt to Gus several times and he's a bad tipper and not nice to the dealers. And I asked, "How often does Gus come here and play in the $1/$2 game?

A little later I had dropped a hand and an ace came up on the river, and Danielle said she should have stayed as she would have had a flush, and I said, "Yeah, I should have stayed too, because I folded a pair of aces." And the guy sitting next to me said, "You're an idiot!" (And of course, Carter and Chiva and everyone else agreed, but they knew I was kidding...they just agreed for other reasons.)

Earlier in the night, watching Neil beat Corbett in the semis was fun. Chiva set up the matches 2 out of 3 to 7, which is lot more fun to watch than a match to 13 or 15 or higher...clearly more fun for the spectators and I hope it is the way all tournaments will go in the future. Neil won the first two matches, but Mike put up a really tough battle and had some horrible dice.
