By the way, if this position were to arise in a consulting chouette, and I were trying to convince the captain to play 6/1*, I would probably say, "Attack a single checker." Though this statement does not quite reflect my own thought process, it's not a lie either, and I think for many players it's more convincing to cite a maxim than to point out how well White's rolls play if we don't fight for a tempo.
