One problem is that you might be trying to get motivated to do two things well, but you can't put in a tennis practice schedule like Christina McHale's and have any time at all left for studying backgammon...or chess, bridge, accounting, basket-weaving, or anything else!

OTOH if you put in an equivalent schedule at backgammon, you'd have no time left for tennis, or anything else.

Sure is hard to get excited about moderation, isn't it?
