"Several of our members have been contacted recently through the private messaging function on the site. The messages are from people requesting bridge lessons for members of their family or for people they know. While this is not a crime, they then follow up with messages indicating they would like to pay in advance and request confidential financial information to process the transactions. We have traced these suspicious messages to computers in Nigeria, a country infamous for Internet scams.

We are working to tighten up security to prevent people like them from messaging our users. In the meantime, please use caution when responding to requests of this type. If you're suspicious, please forward the message to support@bridgewinners.com so we can investigate and take care of the problem.
