OT — Windows Update from today causing problems...

Many report a problem with today’s Windows Update. The updates are fine, it is just that one of them seeks to be repeatedly installed. After installing KB2647753, and then rebooting, Windows Update pops up again, saying you need to install KB2647753. The problem is discussed here: DSL Reports Forum http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27424108-KB2647753-Problems-installing-it If you have not yet done any updates, one possible work-around is to deselect KB2647753 from the list of updates, and then go ahead with the other updates. When you are finished rebooting, run the offline installer from Microsoft: Microsoft Support Description of an update rollup for the printing core components in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2647753 King Grub at DSL Reports Forum suggests that you can uninstall KB2647753 (in case you accepted the automatic Windows Update), and then reinstall from the offline installer. When I tried the uninstall, my system froze during the “Preparing to uninstall...” stage. I had to power down, reboot into Safe Mode, and revert back. No harm done, but for now, I have unchecked this update from the pesky Windows Update list. Mike
