After seeing the rollouts and reading the comments I still haven't had an "aha" moment with this one. I feel as though I should either be trying to play safe to preserve my racing lead, or attacking to leverage my superior board. I don't sense the urgency or expediency here of taking risks to build a prime unless it's a prelude to racing or attacking. If the plan is to race, leaving direct shots doesn't seem advisable. If the plan is to attack, I have a strong preference for actually attacking versus only preparing to attack, especially when the opponent has a blotted, weaker board.

As you say, interesting position.
