Reading Victor's reply makes it easier for me to post so I won't get yelled at by the higher ups. I thought this play was pretty much a next too which is why I didn't comment on it the first time around.

By playing something passive this turn you allow your opponent to consolidate his position a lot. You will then be stuck with a little equity trying to catch one of his checkers (?) + the equity from the 23pt anchor game. No matter what happens you'll have the 23pt anchor game whether you cough up 1 blot or 4 blots right now. You may even get a man (or two!?) back on the 24pt which at dmp/gg will help your chances. The fact that there are 9 numbers that are terrible if you hit makes such a huge difference.
