OtB and two variations

In the first of the two positions, blue has rolled a 6-1. Moving up to the 14 means that blue loses connectivity since there is now 7 pips between the anchor and the blot. Trice makes a big deal out of connectivity, but everytime I try to apply it it seems like the notion is over-rated. I think it's over-rated here - blue doesn't want to make an outfield point, the next step is to keep the runner moving while maintaining the anchor. So i don't see what connectivity buys.
So, I'd go all the way to the 14, for 12 shots vs 14. I don't see duplication as a factor.
In the second, the only difference is the position of white's homeboard blot and I fail to see how that makes any difference. 21/15.
