I'm almost positive I'd play 11/4 OTB without thinking about it.

what are the alternatives?

1) clear the 7 with 7/4 7/3 - this leaves blue vulnerable to an immediate 64, after which white might not even want to hit as it's gammon-go she'd be strewing 5 blots around (including two directs) against a 5 point board.

2) 6/2 5/2 - not sure what this accomplishes.

3) 11/7 5/2 - this leaves one shot leaving roll 5-5, vs 11/4 which leaves a shot with 5-6

3) 11/7 6/3 - this leaves a shot with 3-4

4) 11/8 6/4 - this buries a checker while still leaving blue vulnerable to a 5-6.

Since this is gammon-go, blue should think about choosing the play that is most gammmonish. Clearing the 7 seems to be the best avenue for this, but only if white co-operates. I'm not sure i understant that line of play, so I'll go for the play that leaves the fewest immediate shots.

11/7 5/2
