White is Player 2

score: 0
pip: 177

Jacoby

Blue is Player 1

Blue to play 22

The big question is whether to go all-out, hitting loose from the bar point, or to keep a modicum of safety, by switching from the 3pt to the 1pt.

After hitting, I would play the balance of the roll by lifting the bar point. A blot left on the 8pt dupes the 4 White will need to enter. A blot on the 7pt, no.

  • A (Attack) = 8/6, 7/1*
  • a (attack) = 7/5, 7/1*
  • A (Attack) = 8/6, 7/5, 3/1*(2)
  • a (attack) = 7/5(2), 3/1*(2)

So, the two plays I like are a and a.

On the other side of the board, Blue needs 3 or 4 to hit and 5 or 6 to escape. There is nothing to be to diversified any more than that.

Blue has enough irons in the fire as it is. He does not need to hang another blot out on the 1pt. True, if missed, a blot on the 1pt could be covered with 25 numbers. Because Blue has 20 numbers that hit on the other side, however, I don’t think he has to risk the slot on this turn. If the opportunity offers itself, Blue might need to hit loose next turn. But not now.

a (attack) = 7/5(2), 3/1*(2)
