11-point looks more balanced and directly hinders two opp checkers. 4-point is good (maybe better further in the future) but the position then looks awkward. Besides, we want to use our 8-point checkers as builders (not this turn, I realize) in conjunction with the spares on the 6-point.

As an aside, this position hints why in the old days people disliked making the 2-point.
