18/12. This will buy you an extra shot should white roll 55/66. If you can stay long enough, the position may also drive down to 2 white checkers, and it will pay off to 51/61. You gain a xover by playing the ace 13/12, and maximize your efficiency. You are also still behind in the race, so stay back. Additionally, the pick n pass numbers are cheaply priced as moving to the 17pt allows your opp to play all aces as pick n pass, staying on the 18 increases that only by 1: 22,23,24,25,26,11 vs 11,13,14,15,16 (12 although it hits, leaves an unpleasant taste if you use it to hit).

So many reasons. Whats the best one though?

Why not just clear your own 6? This race is close enough that I want to run away to keep the race a factor. Maybe its close enough that the 6pt should be broken?

I look forward to finding out the answer, and am willing to commit to 18/12 for now.
