Bananas Split?

Bob Koca took his time considering this one. You could tell what he was thinking. The cube has already been turned. Losing a gammon is irrelevant. Should I try the bananas split?

If he hits, H = bar/24 6/4*, opponent Mel Leifer will have 20 return shots, all of which put him in the driver’s seat. It won’t be certain victory for Mel, but he will be cruising down the highway that leads there. Even if Mel misses his initial shot from the bar, Bob will have some work to do to turn this around.

The alternative is B = bar/24 9/7. It cuts down on blots, and leaves only a single direct.

What play is best at this score? What play is correct in unlimited games?

Mike
