Granted, an obvious, though daunting, play once one considers all of the applicable factors.

Akiko considered the roll for quite a while but made the correct play.

Most of the elite players got the correct play rather quickly, many other Open players succumbed to the counterintuitive aspects.

The main factors are: number of shots, the ease of cleaning up the situation after a miss, and, as Neil correctly notes, white is dead meat whether one checker is hit or if two checkers are hit.

Subsequent to Akiko's correct play, I rolled the super joker 3-5; then I almost screwed up the great situation by needlessly picking up the second checker and watching Akiko anchor before I could close her out.
