You are right! Thanks for setting me straight.

Howard's chances of running off this gammon are much less that his chances of hitting and somehow beating the gammon or even winning the game. And the best chance of hitting is to dance. According to XGR++, entering even 1 checker reduces Howard's equity.

This means that Howard's error was one that would have benefited himself if it had been allowed to stand. Conspiracy theorists may want to take note.
