Thanks for sharing this information...it is quite interesting. I have always believed the average PR for Open Play is closer to 7.5, but of course, that is probably more applicable for the average of the first round, as clearly, the better players play more rounds and reduce the average.
Questions: 1. Did your average include your own PR's? If so, that is another reason your numbers are skewed down, as you are better than the average open player. Of course it would be better to know with and without your own PR as your play does contribute to the average.
2. If you have it, I would be interested to know if the average PR for shorter matches tends to be higher or lower than for longer matches;
3. If you have it, I would be pretty sure that the average PR for masters is much lower than for Open, and I would like to see those separated if possible;
4. Once you get a big enough sample, it would be interesting to see what the average PR of your opponent's are in the first round or two vs. the later rounds of a tournament. Let's see if you are correct that the PR's go down as you meet stronger players, or if the stress of tournaments will in any way raise PR's toward the end.
5. It would also be nice to know the average PR of the Giants you have played...say anyone on the top 32 list and, to be relevant, add those people who are clearly known to be that good which might not be on the current list (Dimitry and Senk come to mind immediately, but there are others).
6. Another number that would be interesting to see, eventually, is whether or not clocks affect the PR.
