My play is b/24, 13/7. I already have the all important 20 point anchor while White's back checkers are still unsettled. By placing a checker on my bar point, I am increasing the pressure if White fails to hit. If White hits with 41, 62 or 64, I have many return shots. Also, my checker back on the 24 point guards White's inner board, not allowing him to freely slot those points.

The only reason for playing b/18 is to avoid falling further behind in the race by getting another checker hit. At this stage of the game, especially with the best anchor secured, it's wrong to adopt such a negative plan.
