There are sound arguments for making the 7pt.

Blue would thereby complete a four-point block, putting himself in the driver’s seat in a prime-vs.-prime contest. Meanwhile, White has an awkward double-gap to fill, so even if he can make his bar point, his game plan would be more attack than prime. Given that White would like to attack, splitting the rear checkers could be playing into his hands.

Blue will feel somewhat trapped if White makes the bar point or rolls a number that makes his 4pt or 5pt. Nevertheless, I’ll go for the prime.
