Shogi (Japanese version of Chess) event will be held in Monte Carlo. Master Moriuchi will be there ! He is also enthusiastic about backgammon and tries Championship class in BG.

Shogi is by far the most popular table game in Japan and top professional players earn million. The game is more complex and interesting than Chess. The biggest difference is that captured pieces reenter the game as part of the opposite side. Also, the pieces are promoted once they get into the opponent zone. This makes Shogi more dynamic than chess and drawn games are very seldom.

When I was teenager I played it in a high school. I spent more time in the club room than in the class room.

I hope many BG players give a try on this game during your stay in Monte. I only know that David Rockwell is a player. I hope he could come :)
