D/T This is a classic 4-away, 2-away position. Blues gammon value is .46 on a centered cube and 1.0 on a doubled cube. White's gammon value is .86 on centered cube and 0 on a doubled cube. Blue is gaining .54 in gammon value by doubling and costing white .86 in gammon value at the same time. That is a huge incentive for blue and the reason it is usually correct for the trailer to double at these scores, with any significant gammon threat. While blue is clearly an underdog, he has significant winning chances and 40 to 50% of his wins should be gammons. He must double. Easy take for white, of course, as he is a significant game favorite.
