Ian,

My experience has taught me to be careful with wild opening plays unless I know the sequence or have a decent understanding that makes me fairly sure of a specific wild play. If I face a position for the first time, such as this one (21$-51S-53P-51), and can think of a couple of wild alternatives, I prefer to reject them. I will do so because If I am wrong I may loose a little equity in theory, but when the wild play is wrong, it can be a blunder, or close to it.

I have seen some of the strongest opening players blunder 3rd and/or 4th roll plays for playing too wild.

If you guess wild for the purpose of the quiz/studying and would behave differently in practice then it is a different case.

Just my 2 (depreciating) cents.
